Why factions works on short video
A 2022 server-marketing guide noted that factions does less well on short-form than prison or skyblock (BuiltByBit). The fix is story and stakes: viewers who don’t know the mechanics still understand “they’re about to lose everything”.
Factions also has great one-shot spectacle: a cannon volley, a wall breaking, a vault full of spawners.
Hooks for a factions server
Say it in the first second, with a character or the subject moving on frame 0. Four to seven words is the sweet spot.
- “They spent three weeks on this base.”
- “Do not build your walls like this.”
- “We raided the top faction at 3 a.m.”
- “This cannon breaks any wall.”
- “One faction. One night. Everything gone.”
Why these work, and more patterns: hooks that work for Minecraft Shorts.
Shot ideas
| Shot | What it shows | How VoxelCut films it |
|---|---|---|
| Base reveal | What’s at stake | An aerial or orbit around the base |
| The plan | Faction members in a huddle | Client-side actors in faction tags, shot and reverse shot |
| Cannon or explosion | The breach | Your own raid recording, or in-game particles staged for the shot |
| Before / after | The wall gone | A grayscale before with an MC-font label, then full colour |
| Faction chat | The reaction | A fake chat line in the real Minecraft style |
| Top factions list | The ranking | The menu opened by command, zoomed on the top spot |
Briefs you can paste into VoxelCut
“Story Short: the top faction’s base, the plan, the raid, the vault. Use my raid recording for the breach. IP badge at the end.”
“Feature ladder: “Do not build your walls like this.” Three mistakes and the cannon that exploits each.”
“Skit: two faction leaders trash-talk at spawn, cut to the raid that settles it.”
A story Short or multi-character skit, with your own recordings for real raids. Use the grayscale grade for “before”.
How to end it
An IP badge with the season start date: factions players care about joining at the start of a map.
Either way, the address must be readable on a phone for at least three seconds. See the IP badge and how-to-join guides.
Common mistakes
- Raw raid footage with no context. Name the stakes in the first line.
- Fast PvP that nobody can follow on a phone. Slow it down and zoom.
- Showing exploits or bugs your staff would ban for.

Do factions servers work on TikTok?
They can, but raw raid footage is hard to follow. Short story-led videos with clear stakes (“they’re about to lose everything”) work better than long montages.
Can VoxelCut film a real raid?
Record the raid yourself while you play, and VoxelCut finds the moments, cuts the idle parts and edits the story around them. For staged shots it can add client-side actors and particles.
When should a factions server post the most?
In the two weeks before a map reset and the first week of a new map, when new players decide where to start.
